Students at the Center

This Is Where I Should Be is a documentary by Students at the Center staff member Gabrielle Turner. In the film, she talks with Kalamu ya Salaam about innovative moviemaking. Turner mixes video streams and addresses personal issues, coupled with hands-on explanation of how the piece was made. The work is part of a series of short movies produced by Students at the Center youth filmmakers about daily life in New Orleans after Katrina.

In this excerpt, titled "I Wanted Him to Be There," Turner reflects on the importance of her college graduation day and her disappointment over her father's absence at the celebration.
