Ibrahima Dia

Ibrahima Dia is the Ambassador of Mauritania to the United States. He is a former Political Affairs Officer, United Nations Mission, Ivory Coast.

Cheikh Saad Bouh Kamara

Professor Cheikh Saad Bouh Kamara has a PhD in sociology from Montpellier in France. Kamara is a founding member of the Association Mauritanienne des Droits de l’Homme and its former President (1993-2003). In 1998 he was awarded the Anti-Slavery International Award. During the 2005-2007 democratic transition period in Mauritania he served on the Independent National Electoral Commission of Mauritania.

Morgan Mandeville

Morgan Mandeville is a Program Officer with the Revenue Watch Institute.

Boubacar Messaoud

Boubacar Messaoud is the President of SOS Esclaves, which has provided legal and economic assistance to people escaping slavery for over a decade. Born in a family of slaves, he is now Mauritania’s leading anti-slavery campaigner. SOS Esclaves recently led a civil society coalition which successfully campaigned for the criminalization of slavery. Messaoud is currently a member of the National Human Rights Commission.

Aminata Sy

Aminata Sy and her family were deported from Mauritania in 1989.
