Events since the 1991 collapse of the Soviet Union have led to social dislocation and violent conflict in the region. Providing access to high quality education for all children in the Caucasus is the single most important thing we can do to ensure long-term development and security.

Kids Across the Caucasus showcases the work of several local civil society organizations that have taken up the challenge of developing models of education and social services for the most vulnerable children. The stories in this book show that caring and common-sense efforts to help children recover from crisis yield results. Many of these ideas could be incorporated into government programs with minimal investment and technical assistance from the international community.
