New Book Documents Struggle for Reproductive Rights by Women of Color

Date:
January 13, 2005

Undivided Rights: Women of Color Organize for Reproductive Justice (AK Press), a new book by OSI Independent Project Fellows Marlene Gerber Fried and Jael Silliman, with Elena R. Gutierrez and Loretta Ross, looks at the organizing legacy of women of color activists and reveals how African American, Native American, and Asian and Pacific Islander American women are transforming the fight for choice into a quest for justice.

"Undivided Rights is the most complete account of the vital contribution made by women of color to the contemporary reproductive rights movement. By giving these organizers the attention they deserve, the authors illuminate a distinctive vision for reproductive health and freedom that demands an end to social inequities. Essential reading for anyone committed to the struggle for reproductive justice." —Dorothy Roberts
