OSI Publications Win Council on Foundations Awards
The Open Society Institute was selected for two awards from the Council on Foundations in its annual Wilmer Shields Rich competition for excellence in communications. Bending the Bow: Targeting Women's Human Rights and Opportunities took a Silver Award in the Special Reports category. The Special Recognition Award went to Building the New South Africa: One House, One Dream at a Time.
Bending the Bow, from the Women's Program, was described by the judges as "well written and organized," "a pleasure to look at," and "a strong and compelling publication." The judges praised Building the New South Africa, which tells the story of OSI grantee Nurcha, for its "anecdotal, upbeat approach and beautiful writing" and as "visually captivating" and a "great combination of information and storytelling."
