To Look At Life Through Women's Eyes
Women’s Oral Histories From the Former Soviet Union

February 2004

OSI

This publication provides a small sample of groundbreaking research work undertaken by women scholars/activists from eight countries in the former Soviet Union. The experiences of the 14 women portrayed illustrate the challenges and small victories of life in Soviet and post-socialist times. To Look at Life Through Women’s Eyes is intended to provide a vision of the region’s diversity and rich history, as well as help create linkages between scholars of this region and the international feminist community.

The publication was sponsored by the Women’s Oral History Program in Central Asia, the Caucasus, Russia, and Ukraine. This program is an integral part of the Network Women’s Program’s effort to expand its activities in women’s and gender history.
