Murder in the Name of Honor

Rana Husseini

Journalist, feminist, and human rights defender Rana Husseini is one of the world’s most influential investigative journalists, whose reporting has put violence against women on the public agenda around the world. The recipient of numerous awards for bravery in journalism, she is a regular speaker at major international events, and has been interviewed by almost every major international broadcaster, from CNN to the BBC.

Kerry Kennedy

Kerry Kennedy is the author of Being Catholic Now: Prominent Americans Talk about Change in the Church and the Quest for Meaning and Speak Truth to Power: Human Rights Defenders Who Are Changing Our World.

Kennedy started working in the field of human rights in 1981 when she investigated abuses committed by U.S. immigration officials against refugees from El Salvador. She established the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Center for Human Rights in 1988. She has led over 40 human rights delegations across the globe. Kennedy is the founder of Speak Truth, a global education initiative.

Kennedy is chair of the Amnesty International USA Leadership Council and serves on the boards of directors of Human Rights First and Inter- Press Service. She was nominated by President Bush and confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve on the board of the U.S. Institute for Peace.

Kennedy is a graduate of Brown University and Boston College Law School and is a member of the Massachusetts and District of Columbia bars.
