Ruth Ojiambo Ochieng
Ruth Ojiambo Ochieng is the Executive Director of Isis-Women’s International Cross Cultural Exchange (Isis-WICCE), an organization based in Uganda that empowers women affected by armed conflicts; documents and advocates on women’s rights violations in more than 50 countries; and promotes women’s leadership in conflict resolution, peace building and reconstruction processes. Ochieng played a critical role in lobbying for women’s participation in the peace talks between the Government of Uganda and the Lord’s Resistance Army for one of Africa’s longest civil wars. Before assuming her position at Isis-WICCE in 1994, Ochieng was the head of a documentation centre at the Uganda Constituent Assembly Commission, and managed the Attorney General’s Library in the Ministry of Justice for 14 years. She serves on the Amnesty International Committee for Movement Growth, the Advisory Committee of the Women’s Initiative for Gender Justice at The Hague, and the Advisory Committee of Women Human Rights Defenders. |

Marie Claire Ruhamya
Marie Claire Ruhamya is a founding member and spokesperson of Solidarity of Women of Burhale in the east of the DRC, as well as a founding member of the Foundation for Social and Cultural Cooperation of the Group of African States, the Caribbean and Pacific, and the Council of African Communities in Europe/Belgium. In 1998, she was Coordinator of the Pacification Commission in the South Kivu and in 2000, she was the Rapporteur of the Congolese Diaspora during the DRC National Consultation. She is a member of Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, Common Cause UK, platform of Congolese women in the UK and the International Action Network on Small Arms - Women's Network. She was also an expert in Social and Cultural Cooperation to the Secretariats of the Group ACP and during the Negotiations of the 4th Lomé Convention. Ruhamya is currently a council member of the African Synergy Association of Belgium, in charge of missions. |

Gopal Krishna Siwakoti
Gopal Krishna Siwakoti, Ph.D., is President of the International Institute for Human Rights, Environment & Development (INHURED)/Population Watch in Nepal. In 2007, he worked as Coordinator of the Peace Audit Program: Monitoring Comprehensive Peace across the country. From 1999-2006, he served as Secretary General of the Himalayan Human Rights Monitors, and currently serves as the Secretary General of the National Election Observation Committee and as National Advisor to the Alliance for Human Rights and Social Justice. Since 1999, Siwakoti has been a Member of the International Advisory Board for the Hague Appeal for Peace in New York, and a Convenor and Patron of Amnesty International Group-III. From 2004-2006, he was a coordinator of the 24 Hour Human Rights Life-Line on Conflict Monitoring and Reporting to address critical incidences of rights violations with specific focus on children. Siwakoti has been a consultant to the Beyond Beijing Committee, UNICEF-Nepal on child rights issues, the ILO on counter-trafficking, and Caritas Nepal on the impact of internal displacement in Nepal. |
