OSI, World Affairs Council Collaborate on Foreign Policy Debates

Date:
November 4, 2003

Beginning in 2003 and continuing through early 2004, OSI’s Cooperative Global Engagement Project, in partnership with the World Affairs Councils, is sponsoring a discussion series about the U.S. role in the world. The forums are being held in various U.S. cities, including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Houston, and Seattle.

The goal of this series is to encourage Americans to take a more active role in U.S. foreign policy. Topics discussed during the series include international trade, the legitimate uses of force, and international human rights. The series will conclude with a discussion of how citizens can participate in and seek to change U.S foreign policy. Confirmed speakers include Clyde Prestowitz, counselor to the commerce secretary in the Reagan administration and author of Rogue Nation, and economist and New York Times columnist Paul Krugman.
