OSI Photography Show Open to Public
Press Release
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Moving Walls 8, a documentary photography exhibit featuring the work of five artists and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Peru, will be open to the public Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 12-3 p.m., beginning June 28, 2004, at OSI-Washington, D.C.
Moving Walls is an artistic interpretation of the struggles of people committed to tearing down the barriers of political oppression, economic instability, and racism. The documentary photographs reflect the transitional conditions of open societies, and the promotion and maintenance of democratic values.
The eighth Moving Walls features the work of Jonas Bendiksen, Héléne
Caux, Jeffrey Ladd, Andrew Lichtenstein, Steve Liss, and the Truth and Reconciliation
Commission of Peru. The photographs document a wide range of subjects including
the immense repercussions of America’s prison system and the continuing
tensions among ethnic groups in war-ravaged Kosovo.
Moving Walls was established by the Open Society Institute in 1997. The work
included in the show is selected, by an OSI committee, from a number of submitted
portfolios.
The exhibit is open to the public from June 28 through November 15 on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 12-3 p.m, at OSI-Washington, D.C., 1120 19th Street NW, 8th Floor, Washington, D.C.
