Connect US Announces the Global Security and Cooperation Initiative: 2007-2009 Grantmaking Program

Date:
May 23, 2007

The Connect US collaborative fund—sponsored by the Open Society Institute, the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, the Ford Foundation, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, and the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation—announces the release of the funding guidelines for the Global Security and Cooperation Initiative, its 2007-2009 grantmaking program.

Connect US believes that the public debate leading to the presidential transition in 2009 presents an historic opportunity to make serious progress on key policy issues critical to responsible global engagement. This will be the major goal of the Connect US program over the next two years, reflected in a $5-$6 million program of grantmaking and operational activities termed "The Global Security and Cooperation Initiative." The Initiative will focus, in particular, on climate change and energy policy, nuclear and space weapons policy, human rights, civil-military relations, and international trade and development.

Prospective applicants are encouraged to view the guidelines for the Global Security and Cooperation Initiative's Bridge-Building and Policy Action grants, to determine if their work fits the funding priorities.

Deadline

Letters of inquiry for the two funding pools are due by June 21, 2007.

To Submit a Letter of Inquiry
