Eastern Europe/Former Soviet Union Project

Since it was founded in the 1980s, the Open Society Institute has established foundations throughout Central and South Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. Based at OSI-Washington, the office of regional director and policy analysis for these regions serves as a link between locally based entities and the international policy community in Washington. It advocates on a range of issues related to the further integration of the post-communist world within the emerging framework of global institutions.

The project serves as a resource for government agencies, multilateral institutions, and non-governmental organizations interested in the region. It provides policy briefings and political analysis on request and directly oversees the work of six foundations within the OSI network.
