D.C. Community Grants Initiative

Maryland Multicultural Youth Center (MMYC) is part of the Latin American Youth Center (LAYC) family of organizations.   LAYC is a multicultural, community-based organization whose mission is to support youth and their families in their determination to live, work, and study with dignity, hope, and joy. 

LAYC achieves its mission by providing comprehensive, multilingual, culturally sensitive programs and opportunities in education, employment, social services and advocacy. 

In 2007, the DC Community Grants Initiative awarded MMYC with a project support grant to help initiate its Fresh StART program.  Fresh StART uses the creation of a public art project to teach leadership, job readiness and life-skills.  The program targets gang-involved or at-risk youth from Prince George's County.
