Bright Beginnings, Inc.
2007

Founded in 1991, Bright Beginnings is the only free, full-day, year-round child and family development center dedicated to homeless infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and their families living in the District of Columbia. Its mission is (1) to provide homeless young children with a safe, nurturing, educational environment; (2) to prepare children to enter kindergarten ready to learn; and (3) to support parents as they stabilize their home lives.

Bright Beginnings provides comprehensive educational, therapeutic, and family support services that address the complex needs of homeless children and their parents.  By providing case management, learning experiences, nutritious meals, a safe and stable environment, and loving care, Bright Beginnings helps to mitigate the effects of homelessness on young children.

In 2007 the DC Community Grants Initiative awarded Bright Beginnings with a general support grant.
