D.C. Community Grants Initiative

Grantee List

In 2006, the Open Society Institute launched the DC Community Grants Initiative to address needs in the District of Columbia and Prince George’s County. The initiative focuses on two areas:

  • Youth Leadership and Development: organizations that build leadership skills, foster civic engagement and/or promote development among diverse young people.
  • Needs of Low-income Families: organizations that provide direct services, engage in advocacy, and offer solutions to the unique problems faced by low and no-income families.

The DC Community Grants Initiative annually awards one-year grants of up to $40,000 to community-based organizations that engage in youth leadership and development and/or provide services for low-income families.

The initiative does not accept unsolicited proposals.
