The Iraqi Referendum—Context and Outcomes

The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and the Open Society Institute presented a forum, "The Iraqi Referendum—Context and Outcomes."

The event was designed to address such questions as, What will the future hold now that Iraqis voted on the constitutional referendum on October 15, 2005? Will the country spiral further into violence and sectarian strife, or will the new constitution create a framework for continued debates on religion, federalism, and the role of women in Iraqi society?

The Open Forum speaker series aims to enhance policy debate on key issues facing Central Asia, the South Caucasus, and the Middle East, and to raise public awareness of important developments in these regions.
