Ethnic and Racial Profiling in Europe

Minorities and members of immigrant communities routinely report instances of racial and ethnic profiling by the police throughout the OSCE region, despite findings that it does not prevent terrorism or lower crime rates.

The Helsinki Commission, a U.S. governmental body focused on security and cooperation with Europe, is holding a briefing on developing an international response to the pervasive yet ineffective practice of ethnic and racial profiling. Rachel Neild of the Open Society Justice Initiative will testify on ethnic profiling and police reform across Europe.
