The Open Society Institute, in conjunction with the Democracy Coalition Project and the Project on Middle East Democracy, hosted "Human Rights in the Arab Region in 2008: A Report from the Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies." The event focused on human rights trends and deepening repression in the Middle East, as well as potential strategies for the new administration, international community, and NGOs working in the region.
