Bio

Gabi Chojkier

Communications Officer
OSI-Washington, D.C.

Gabi Chojkier is the communications officer for the Washington, D.C., office of the Open Society Institute. Chojkier is responsible for the office's communication, outreach strategies, and media relations on domestic and international social issues.  She works closely with the senior policy analysts and directors to advance advocacy and policy efforts.

Prior to joining the Open Society Institute, Chojkier was a communications consultant for the World Bank focusing on energy, water, and sanitation issues. In addition, she served as a senior account supervisor at Ruder Finn, an international public relations firm, where she managed public education and awareness campaigns for U.S. government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and corporations.  Chojkier also worked for U.S. Congressman Bob Filner, where she advised him on foreign affairs, trade, human and civil rights, and immigration, and served in the political section of the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City.

Chojkier received a MA in communications from Johns Hopkins University and a BA in international relations from Tufts University; she also studied at La Sorbonne in Paris.  She is fluent in Spanish and French.
