American Civil Liberties Union of Texas

A grant to address the effects of "zero-tolerance" educational policies and the drastic underfunding of public mental health and educational services in Texas, which fuel a "school-to-prison pipeline." The project will compile research, develop policy recommendations, and raise public awareness to protect the rights and welfare of children with emotional disturbances and other disabilities.

Little is a community integration advocate for Advocacy, Inc., where she helps people with disabilities move from institutions into community living situations. She has also worked as a researcher on a mental health project for the California office of Fight Crime: Invest in Kids, and as a policy analyst for the California Institute of Mental Health, analyzing the cost and effectiveness of mental health service delivery innovations designed to help children. Little received a master's of public policy from the Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley. While in graduate school, she was chapter head of the grassroots organization Marriage Equality California and continues work for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender rights in Austin, Texas.
