Ken Lamberton
2007 A grant to complete and promote his book, Razor Wire Notes, a first-person account of the last three years of his 12-year prison sentence. The book explores society's response to sex crimes, the structure of human relationships in the prison environment, and the intersection of prison with national and state politics, nature, marriage, and family. Lamberton is an award-winning writer whose credits include more than 100 science and nature articles and essays for national magazines and literary journals, and three books, one of which won the 2002 John Burroughs Medal for outstanding nature writing. Much of his writing explores human relationships and the natural world, and his books offer reflections on his time in prison, commentary on the politics of crime and punishment, and exploration of society's treatment of sex offenders.
