Application Guidelines  |  Grantee List

Grantees
Jody Armour

Jody Armour will write Hearts and Minds in Blame and Punishment, a book challenging both "common sense" assumptions as well as prevailing scholarly theories about who we blame and punish and why. The book will examine how youthfulness, gender, drugs, and mental illness shape our assumptions about who is accused of or convicted of crimes and why. The project will work to persuade both the public and decision makers that our current approach is unjust and inconsistent with basic American values and commitments.
