A grant to conduct a study of criminal trials that resulted in the wrongful conviction of innocent persons who were later exonerated by post-conviction DNA testing, with the goal of identifying the factors that contributed to the wrongful conviction, such as ineffective assistance of counsel, police and prosecutorial misconduct, and racial bias.
