Soros Speaks on Criminal Justice Advocacy Against a Backdrop of Terror

Date:
June 6, 2006

As keynote speaker for the 2006 meeting of the Soros Justice Fellows, OSI founder and chairman George Soros gave a talk entitled “Criminal Justice Advocacy Against a Backdrop of Terror.” Soros discussed the “war on terror” and the detrimental impact it has had on U.S. foreign relations and the country’s standing in the world. Outlining a number of themes addressed in his recent book The Age of Fallibility (Public Affairs), he emphasized the need for the United States to change its course regarding both domestic and foreign policy.

The Soros Justice Fellowships program hosts an annual meeting each spring to welcome the new cohort of fellows; offer opportunities for intellectual exchange, technical assistance, and networking; and to cultivate a community of advocates, lawyers, journalists, scholars, and others who comprise the fellows network.
