Date:
February 10, 2004

On February 10, The Washington Post ran an editorial titled “Justice Denied in Virginia,” featuring an OSI-U.S. Programs funded report by the American Bar Association that found the state’s “system for providing lawyers for poor people accused of crimes ‘deeply flawed … fail[ing] to provide indigent defendants the guarantees of effective assistance of counsel required by federal and state law.’” The editorial followed a news story on the issue that appeared in the paper on February 4.
