Strengthening Families / Responsible Fatherhood

Grantee List

Grantees
Center for Urban Families
2008

The Center for Urban Families will use its OSI funding to implement the Advancing Responsible Fatherhood strategy into its core programmatic activities, which will focus on building and empowering a black male infrastructure and strengthening the field of responsible fatherhood on the intersection between direct action, research, evaluation, and advocacy.

The proposed strategy represents an innovative model because it combines a strong direct service program with policy advocacy that puts those directly affected at the center of the advocacy.  It will be the culmination of collaborative efforts among three key programs: direct educational and advocacy service with The Baltimore Responsible Fatherhood Project; research and evaluation of data with the Columbia University Center for Research on Fathers, Children, and Family Well-Being, to prove the correlation between delivering educational and advocacy services to low-income fathers and the improved outcomes / quality of life for their children; and policy advocacy / data dissemination with the National Fatherhood Leaders Group.
