Turkmenistan Project Grants

The Turkmenistan Project will consider funding initiatives that support social and economic rights in Turkmenistan; community development and capacity-building; transparency and good governance related to substantial sources of state revenue including oil, gas, hydro-energy and cotton; activities that monitor and document human rights abuses in Turkmenistan, as well as provide redress for the victims of human rights abuses; and education initiatives that introduce progressive, socially minded teaching methodologies and curriculum into Turkmenistan’s secondary education, as to support civic education which fosters debate and networks for youth.

For further information or an application form, please see the Central Eurasia Project grant guidelines or contact the Grants Officer. All applications and deliberations are strictly confidential.

Other Funding Sources

Some OSI programs and Soros foundations also fund civil society work in or related to Turkmenistan. The Turkmenistan Project Grants Officer can help direct prospective applicants to these programs, which run their own grant competitions independently and according to different deadline cycles.

To view a list of additional (non-OSI) funders of civil society initiatives in Turkmenistan, please see the donor list.
