Cost-Benefit Estimates in Prevention Research

The literature review determines that effective addiction prevention efforts can pay major economic dividends. 

Key points from the study include:

  • Savings per $1 spent on addiction prevention can be substantial, ranging from $2 to $19.64, depending on how costs were calculated, outcomes included and the differences in methodologies.
