Party Finance in Hungary: Research and Recommendations
2006-2008

Hungary, surprisingly for many observers, entered EU without reformed regulations for financing of political parties. It currently operates with very old fashioned system of checks and balances that allow political parties to circumvent accountability of their fundraising and spending. By undertaking a thorough analysis of the last parliamentary and local elections, this project ultimately aims to galvanize a public debate leading to a new law on political party financing.
