The Special Initiatives program was established to develop a set of global grantgiving projects that build upon the Soros network’s strengths in promoting human rights and accountability.

In close consultation with other OSI programs, Special Initiatives works to bolster existing network activities by reaching out to new partners and supporting collaboration across programs. The program also seeks to create new opportunities for engagement with civil society organizations working nationally, regionally, and internationally.
