OSI Announces Winners of Roma Inclusion Photography Contest

The Open Society Institute and the Open Society Archives have announced the winning images from the "Chachipe" Decade of Roma Inclusion Photo Contest. The "Chachipe" contest aimed to help combat visual stereotypes associated with Roma and to present Roma people and Roma culture sensitively and artistically.

The contest's five-member international jury selected the following winners from among more than 2,000 photos submitted:

Best Photo Essay: Nina Nikolova (Bulgaria)
Best Family Photo: Zoltan Berecki (Romania)
Best News Photo: Tunde Erika Palosi (Romania)
Best Portrait Photo: Gyula Czimbal (Hungary)

The "Chachipe" photographs are on exhibit at at Galeria Centralis in Budapest through November 25. Hours are Tuesdays through Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Admission is free to all.

The winnning photos are available for viewing below. All photos from the exhibition are presented on the Decade of Roma Inclusion website's online gallery.
