Catholics for a Free Choice (CFFC) Washington, DC $550,000 for general support. CFFC is fighting the accelerating trend of hospital mergers in the U.S. that is placing secular institutions under church jurisdiction and threatening reproductive health services. It is also conducting the See Change Campaign, which challenges the official governmental status of the Holy See at the U.N. (1998-2003).
Choice USA Washington, DC $525,000 for the Next Generation Campaign, a pro-choice public relations and media campaign targeting young people, especially on college campuses (1998-2004).
Columbia University School of Public Health New York, NY $332,222 for Finding Common Ground in the Era of Welfare Reform and Managed Care, a research project measuring the public health outcomes, especially for women and children, of the 1996 Personal and Social Responsibility Act. The project team will make recommendations for necessary revisions of welfare reform in the 2002 reauthorization (1998-2003).
Communications Consortium Media Center Washington, DC $475,000 for the Global Population Initiative, a multi-year initiative to increase media and public interest in world population, reproductive health, and women's empowerment (1998-2003).
Educational Development Center, Inc. Newton, MA $50,000 for broad outreach and dissemination activities for the Earth Education Partnership Program, which developed a high school curriculum on population and consumption (1998-1999).
Family Health Productions, Inc. Gloucester, MA $25,000 to support the development of two videos, The Power of Girls: Inside and Out and Real Strength: Boys Talk About Life, and accompanying discussion sheets (1999-2000).

Waltham, MA $50,000 to fund outreach and promotion activities for Generation XY: A Billion Teens in the New Millennium, a one-hour PBS special with a particular focus on the impact that adolescent girls will have on determining the size of future populations and the quality of life (1998-1999).
Hesperian Foundation Berkeley, CA $100,000 for general support. The Hesperian Foundation is a leading publisher of popular health manuals for the developing world (1998-2001).
Indirect Productions, Inc. New York, NY $15,000 to support the post-production and distribution costs of On Hostile Ground, a documentary on abortion providers (2000-2001).
Institute for Democracy Studies New York, NY $85,000 for the Reproductive Rights and Democracy Program, which monitors and publicizes the activities of right-wing groups (1998- 2001).
The NARAL Foundation Washington, DC $700,000 to support NARAL's five-year advertising and grassroots organizing campaign, CHOICE for AMERICA, which responds to the erosion of support for abortion rights created by extensive anti-abortion advertising (1998-2001).
National Abortion Federation Washington, DC $25,000 to support an eight-city, bilingual public service information campaign designed to humanize and destigmatize abortion patients and providers (1999-2000).
New York University New York, NY $70,000 to support the conference, Families in an Open Society (1999) .
Physicians for Reproductive Choice and Health New York, NY $15,000 to support an oral history and educational video project, The Voices of Choice: The Lives of Physicians Who Practiced Before Roe v. Wade (2001-2002).
Planned Parenthood of New York City New York, NY $30,000 for the Mapping the Future of Choice Conference on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Roe v. Wade (1997).
Pro-Choice Public Education Project Port Chester, NY $500,000 for Pass the Torch, a pro-choice public education and media strategy targeting young people in the New York and San Francisco metropolitan regions. The ads have also been used by grassroots groups in 40 states and Washington, DC (1998-2001).
Refuse and Resist New York, NY $10,000 to fund a National Day of Appreciation for Abortion Providers (1999).
Rocky Mountain Peace and Justice Center Boulder, CO $20,000 to support a show of photographs, "Beggars and Choosers: Motherhood Is Not a Class Privilege in America" (2001-2002).
Rutgers University Foundation New Brunswick, NJ $120,000 to fund the Teen-to-Teen Sexuality Education Project, including publication and distribution of the magazine, SEX, Etc.; expansion of the SEX, Etc. website; and distribution of Student Action Kits (2000-2003).
