Fazal Sheik
2006

Fazal Sheik distributed “Beloved Daughters,” a boxed portfolio of posters to rural areas of India that lack access to the Internet, traditional exhibitions, or even books. The posters include images and testimonials that examine the victimization of women in India—from sex-selective abortion, abandonment, sexual exploitation, early marriage, and dowry death, to the dangers of later life. The exhibition was distributed to schools, women’s organizations, nongovernmental organizations, humanitarian organizations, and libraries in partnership with Action Aid. The poster campaign complements a traditional exhibition, book, and website not funded by OSI.
