Eugene Richards
2005

Eugene Richards produced a multimedia DVD to accompany his book, A Procession of Them: The Plight of the World’s Mentally Disabled. A selection of this work was exhibited in Moving Walls 10. Richards worked with Mental Disability Rights International and his publisher, Trolley, to distribute the DVD.

Following college, Richards joined AmeriCorps: VISTA and was assigned to eastern Arkansas, where he helped found a social service organization and community newspaper. After the publication of his first book, he began working as a freelance photographer for LIFE and the New York Times Magazine. He has received the W. Eugene Smith Memorial Award, a Guggenheim fellowship, and the Robert F. Kennedy Lifetime Achievement Journalism Award.
