Community Support for Grief & Bereavement

Grantee List

Grantees
Harbor Hospital Center, Psychiatry Services—Safe Harbor Counseling

Maryland is fortunate to have a group of 150 highly committed, primarily volunteer, parish nurses who provide screening, education, and direct delivery of health-care services to members of their church or faith community. The parish nurses’ experience in addressing people's physical and spiritual needs make this group well suited to the task of providing bereavement support. This project will fund ongoing clinical support and a series of learning opportunities to allow them to expand their mission and skills to include grief counseling. The nurses' involvement at the grassroots level allows them to effectively organize other volunteers to reach out to their fellows in times of loss.
