A Growing Problem Emerges from Behind Bars

The cover story in this issue of PDIA's newsletter, "Dying in Prison," focuses on the realities of death and hospice care at the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola in preparation for a November conference cosponsored by PDIA and the Center on Crime, Communities & Culture. The growing number of elderly and dying inmates in need of palliative care services is a problem that PDIA first learned about in working with grantees such as the National Prison Hospice Association.
