Linda Ochiel is a seasoned communications and advocacy specialist in the field of human rights. With almost a decade of professional experience, she has designed and implemented communications, advocacy and fundraising strategies for a number of Kenyan and international organizations.
Ochiel has served as a researcher, a writer, newspaper columnist, editor, video documentary producer and human rights education trainer/advocate. She previously headed the Communications Program at the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR), the government watchdog on human rights in Kenya and directed Communications at Ace Communications. In addition to directing the communications strategy, she also chaired the KNCHR’s annual award committee and edited their human rights journal, Nguzo za Haki (Pillars of Justice) for four years.
She holds an MA in Communications Studies and a postgraduate diploma in Mass Communications and Public Relations from the University of Nairobi, BED Arts from Moi University, as well as a number of diplomas in information technology, audiovisual production, human rights video advocacy, information communication and education materials development and human rights education training.
