Soros Foundations

MENA works closely with the Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation–Turkey, a liaison office that identifies actors and activities that will help Turkey's evolution toward an open society, facilitates collaboration between Turkish civil society and the Soros foundations network, and makes funding recommendations.

Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories

The main priority of OSI’s work in Israel and the occupied Palestinian Territories is empowering Palestinians who would promote a more open and equitable society, whether in Israel proper or the West Bank and Gaza. In Israel, this consists of assisting the Palestinian Arab citizens of Israel in their pursuit of equal civil and cultural rights and Jerusalem-based Jewish groups concerned with the rule of law. In the occupied Palestinian Territories, OSI support is provided for scholarships, to human rights initiatives, independent media, reform initiatives and other groups fostering women's rights, the free flow of information, and rule of law.
