Adil Soz (Kazakhstan)
Adil Soz is a media freedom group that provides updates on media freedom cases, offers legal support in defense of journalists, and is actively engaged in development, revising and implementation of media legislation.

Arab Press Freedom Watch
The idea behind APFW is to establish an independent organization which is able to help Arab journalists and Arab media organizations to preserve the basic right of freedom of expression and to maintain a positive role for the media in the progress of Arab societies towards democracy, peace and prosperity. The freedom of the press in the Arab world is facing a very difficult time, especially where we see governments are restricting the activities of the unions, taking control of media organizations, or imposing more unfriendly legislation against freedom of expression.

Article XIX
A nonprofit that works worldwide to combat censorship by promoting freedom of expression and access to official information. Article XIX monitors, researches, publishes, lobbies, campaigns, and litigates on behalf of freedom of expression wherever it is threatened; develops standards to advance media freedom; assists individuals to speak out and campaigns for the free flow of information.

Belarussian Association of Journalists
BAJ works to monitor media freedom violations and provides analysis of media draft laws and legal support for journalists in Belarus.

Center for Journalism in Extreme Conditions
The main activities of the center are: monitoring journalists' and media rights abuse in Russia and the rest of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS); investigating the most grave cases of abuse (murder, beatings, murder attempts, threats, etc); researching into the legislation and actual conditions under which journalists work in "trouble spots" and self-proclaimed states (Chechnya, Nagorno-Karabakh, Abkhazia, Transdniestria); studying the legislation on media in NIS states; and training and legal consultations.

Committee to Protect Journalists
By publicly revealing abuses against the press and by acting on behalf of imprisoned and threatened journalists, CPJ effectively warns journalists and news organizations where attacks on press freedom are occurring. It organizes vigorous protest at all levels--ranging from local governments to the United Nations—and, when necessary, works behind the scenes through other diplomatic channels to effect change.

Council of Europe, Media Division at Directorate General of Human Rights
The Media Division's activities are aimed at fostering freedom of expression and information in the members of the Council of Europe. Particular attention is paid to guaranteeing and enhancing media and journalistic freedoms.

Freedom Forum
The Freedom Forum is a nonpartisan foundation dedicated to free press, free speech and free spirit for all people. The foundation focuses on three priorities: the Newseum, First Amendment freedoms and newsroom diversity.

Freedom House
Freedom House, a non-profit, nonpartisan organization, is a clear voice for democracy and freedom around the world. Through a vast array of international programs and publications, Freedom House is working to advance the remarkable worldwide expansion of political and economic freedom.

Glasnost Defense Foundation
The foundation monitors press freedom violations and attacks against journalists in Russia and in other countries of the former Soviet Union and provides legal support and consultations to journalists and media.

Hungarian Press Freedom Centre
The center collects and distributes information about the Hungarian media; provides legal advice to journalists; provides courses in investigative journalism; publishes documents and studies pertaining to press freedom; organizes public debates to discuss the Hungarian government’s media policy; and analyzes work of the Hungarian Radio and Television Board and the Boards of Trustees of the public service media.

Index on Censorship
Index on Censorship was founded in 1972 by a dedicated team of writers, journalists and artists inspired by the British poet Stephen Spender to take to the page in defence of the basic human right of free expression. Since then Index on Censorship has published an extraordinary range of opinion, analysis, comment and reportage from all corners of the world. Today it is one of the world's leading repositories of original, challenging, controversial and intelligent writing on free expression issues. Index on Censorship continues to log free expression abuses in scores of countries world wide in its Index Index section.

Institute for Mass Information (Ukraine)
The institute defends freedom of speech, supports Ukrainian mass media, researches public opinion, and trains of journalists.

International Federation of Journalists
The International Federation of Journalists is the world's largest organisation of journalists. First established in 1926, it was relaunched in 1946 and again, in its present form, in 1952. Today the Federation represents around 500.000 members in more than 100 countries.

International Freedom of Expression Exchange
IFEX was born in 1992 when many of the world's leading freedom of expression organizations came together in Montreal to discuss how best to further their collective goals. Several funding and development organizations, recognizing the need for more cooperation among freedom of expression groups, provided the initial support for IFEX.
