Council of Europe, Media Division at Directorate General of Human Rights
The Media Division's activities are aimed at fostering freedom of expression and information in the members of the Council of Europe. Particular attention is paid to guaranteeing and enhancing media and journalistic freedoms.

Eurasia Foundation
The foundation, which works in the countries of the former Soviet Union, supports initiatives aimed at reducing legal and regulatory obstacles to the development of civic and media organizations; the development of programs to provide media professionals with the journalism skills they need to contribute more significantly to public policy debates; and the creation of models of effective management.

Ford Foundation
The Ford Foundation is a resource for innovative people and institutions worldwide. Our goals are to: Strengthen democratic values; reduce poverty and injustice; promote international cooperation and advance human achievement.

International Center for Journalists
ICFJ runs a variety of training and educational programs for journalists. The center both deploys top-rate U.S. journalists and managers overseas to train and consult, and also brings overseas media professionals to the United States.

International Media Support
IMS provides support to media around the world, which promote democratic development. It also promotes conditions for professional journalism to develop and provides assistance to independent media and to other media related institutions where professional journalism can be fostered.

International Research and Exchange Board
IREX helps independent print and broadcast media improve professional standards, adopt competitive business practices, develop supporting organizations and associations, and create a legal environment conducive to free media. In cooperation with other donors and implementers, IREX provides small grants, training, and consulting to improve media’s capacity to strengthen civil society around the world.

Internews International
Internews International fights for the rights of journalists and the media around the world; seeks to enhance tolerance and understanding through support to independent media in emerging democracies; produces and distributes innovative television programming; and uses the media to reduce conflict within and between countries.

Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas
The Knight Center for Journalism at the University of Texas at Austin was created in August 2002 as a professional training and outreach program for journalists in Latin America and the Caribbean. The Center's main objective is to help journalists in the hemisphere to develop self-sustaining training programs that will raise the ethical and professional levels of journalism, thereby contributing to the freedom of press and democracy in the hemisphere.

Knight Foundation
The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation was established in 1950 as a private foundation independent of the Knight brothers' newspaper enterprises. It is dedicated to furthering their ideals of service to community, to the highest standards of journalistic excellence and to the defense of a free press.

Media Development Loan Fund
MDLF works with news organizations in the countries of the former Soviet Union and Central and Eastern Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America. In addition to providing financing to media organizations, MDLF offers consulting services and fiscal sponsorship, training and sharing of gained knowledge and experiences in the field, as well as online strategy development including e-commerce, adaptation of technology, and web architecture at the Center for Advanced Media-Prague (CAMP).

Media Viability Fund
The fund is a joint project of the Media Development Loan Fund and the Eurasia Foundation. Its mission is to support the development of independent newspaper, radio and television companies in the countries of the former Soviet Union through low-interest loans and technical assistance.

Medienhilfe
Medienhilfe provides support to independent media in the countries of the former Yugoslavia.

Norwegian People's AID
The group supports independent media, journalism training and other media-related initiatives in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia.

Press Now
Press Now supports independent media, journalism training and other media-related initiatives in Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, and Slovenia.

Reuters Foundation
Created in 1982 to support journalists from developing countries, the Foundation today embraces a wide range of educational, humanitarian and environmental causes and projects.
