Soros Advocacy Fellow Eduardo Ochoa Shows Many are Wary of Health Care System in Arkansas
May 26, 2004

Dr. Eduardo Ochoa, an alumni of the Soros Advocacy Fellowship program, was featured in both the Arkansas News and the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette on May 26th, 2004. Dr. Ochoa was a co-investigator on a study funded by the Arkansas Minority Health Commission which found significant disparities in health outcomes between minorities and whites. Dr. Ochoa attributed the findings in part to the distrust that minority patients feel towards physicians and hospitals and to the belief that they receive poor care in comparison to white patients accessing the health care system.
