Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in the Soros Service Program for Community Health (SSPCH) initiative. The SSPCH initiative has closed and no longer offers educational opportunities to medical students. During its operation between 2000 and 2003, SSPCH provided approximately 150 medical students from around the United States with internship, fellowship and clinical clerkship opportunities in Baltimore and New York City. However, in 2004, SSPCH’s community partners in Baltimore and New York City adopted the initiative, and they created two, non-profit organizations that will continue to offer similar educational opportunities including internships and clerkships to students of the health professions.

These newly-formed organizations are called Baltimore REACH and Doctors for Healthy Communities (DHC). The 2005 program brochures for Baltimore REACH and DHC are available below. Applicants are also encouraged to contact the organizations directly for more information. Please contact Barbra Levin at barbralevin@erols.com for information on Baltimore REACH’s programs and Avigail Ziv at aviziv_dhc@yahoo.com for information on DHC’s programs. In 2005, Baltimore REACH and DHC expect to launch their own websites and applicants should refer to those organizations directly for funding opportunities.
