Vonda Brown
Senior Program OfficerVonda Brown is a program officer for the Open Society Foundations’ (OSF) Latin America Program, focusing on issues of transparency and accountability.
Prior to her work with the Foundations, Brown oversaw Partners of the Americas' transparency and anti-corruption hemispheric initiatives. During 1995-2002, she resided in Nicaragua where she worked as a grants manager and later as a program director for Plan International Nicaragua (Plan). At Plan, Brown was responsible for the organizations' local government, health, education, water, and sanitation and community development programs in 100 communities in the departments of Managua, Chontales, Carazo, and Masaya. During her first years in Nicaragua, Brown served as a U.S. Peace Corps natural resource and community development volunteer where she worked closely with municipal governments and the Ministry of Natural Resources.
Brown has an M.P.P.M. from the Graduate School for Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh, a certificate in Social Administration from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), and a B.A. in Rural Development from the University of Alaska. She is fluent in Spanish and is highly proficient in Portuguese.
