Judicial Independence Program

Guidelines  |  Grantee List

The Judicial Independence Program promotes fair and impartial courts through increased public support for an independent judiciary and through reform of judicial selection. Eighty-seven percent of judges in the United States are elected, and in recent years big money and special interest political pressure have become a staple of judicial campaigns, raising questions about the integrity of U.S. courts. The program seeks to counter the influence of political and special interest groups that threaten both the integrity of the court system and the ability of judges to render fair and impartial decisions.
