Madeleine Crohn

Madeleine Crohn is senior project manager of the Global Campaign for Pretrial Justice, a project of the Open Society Justice Initiative. The campaign seeks to promote rights-based pretrial detention and legal aid reform as an issue of priority on the justice agendas of relevant governments, private and state donors, and inter-governmental organizations.

Crohn served previously as the country director in Romania for the ABA Rule of Law Initiative (formerly CEELI); as the founding director of the Pretrial Services Resource Center (now Pretrial Justice Institute), charged with technical assistance and training services nationwide on pretrial services-related developments; as the founding president of the National Institute for Dispute Resolution, which provided national leadership in the field of conflict resolution; as principal program director with the National Center for State Courts/International Programs Division; and worked with the first pretrial diversion program in the U.S., in the criminal courts of New York (NY).  She is a graduate in international public law of the Faculté de Droit et des Sciences Economiques, and of the Sorbonne in Paris, France.
