The Information Program supports the following initiatives aimed at broadening communications access in the most disadvantaged countries and protecting the freedom to communicate in the digital environment.

Affordable Communications Access
The aim of this component of the Information Program is to broaden sustainable Internet access for key open society constituencies in the most disadvantaged countries by supporting policy interventions and the staging of new models.

Free Expression and Privacy Online
The Information Program supports watchdog groups that respond to threats to basic freedoms emerging from repressive use of new communications technologies.

Governance of Genetic Information
The Governance of Genetic Information initiative seeks to protect the basic rights of individuals and vulnerable populations who are affected by the proliferation of genetic technologies. It promotes governance regimes for genetic information that support open society values.
