
The Information Program's Civil Society Communication focus area comprises the following initiatives.
Technology and Advocacy for Open Societies
By introducing organizations to new ways of approaching information and communications projects, as well as to the tools available to put these new skills to use, this initiative aims to transform the way that civil society organizations use and produce information.
Human Rights and Information
This initiative aims to help human rights organizations improve their capacity to make the data they collect searchable and reusable, and to capture data in such a way that it can be cross-referenced, integrated with new analytical tools, and disseminated through a host of new distribution platforms.
Transparency and New Technologies
This initiative supports emerging tools and techniques that enhance the ability of citizens and civil society organizations to demand greater accountability and increased transparency from public institutions.
Tools for Open Society
The Tools for Open Society initiative supported the provisioning of software to enhance information handling by civil society organizations.
