Towards a Global Infrastructure For Sharing Learning Resources
This document identifies best practices for publishers of open educational resources (OER), with respect to aiding search and discovery of their publications. It was developed by the participants of a June 2009 OER Search and Discovery meeting, sponsored by the Open Society Institute, and is based on discussions held at that meeting. The purpose of the meeting was to examine how various OER repositories and tools could be made interoperable.
Towards a Global Infrastructure For Sharing Learning Resources makes recommendations about starting and registering OER repositories, making OER content stored in repositories available for harvesting, and appropriate file formats and metadata standards. As the title implies, this document represents the first step to building the interoperability needed to make OER discoverable.
