Krugosvet Russian-Language Encyclopedia

Source:
OSI

Krugosvet is a Russian-language general interest encyclopedia that covers all fields of knowledge in eight supercategories and 27 subcategories. Updated six times a year, it contains more than 15 million words, over 600 current and historic maps, and 10,000 illustrations, line drawings and charts.

Each article is intended to provide objective, non-ideological, easily accessible information for research and other purposes. With the Aport search engine, users are able to search by subject, article or Boolean phrases. Articles can be downloaded and printed.

Krugosvet is available on CD-ROM or can be accessed for free at www.krugosvet.ru, a Russian-language website. OSI’s Information Program supported the launching of Krugosvet, but the encyclopedia has been self-sufficient since 2000.
