Internship Initiative

The Internship Initiative is a joint program of the Human Rights and Governance Grants Program and the OSI Scholarship Programs. The Initiative provides support for one-year, paid internships at selected human rights organizations for recent graduates of the OSI UK Scholarship Programs and the DAAD-OSI Program.

The Initiative’s objective is to encourage the development of a new generation of human rights activists in Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. It provides host organizations selected from among HRGGP grantees with an opportunity to recruit and train young human rights activists, while at the same time helping young graduates gain valuable experience in the human rights field.

Since its inception in 2005, the Internship Initiative has offered nine internship positions in eight local and international human rights organizations working in Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union . In 2006/2007, the Initiative will support internships in as many as 12 host organizations.

Proposals for organizations and individual interns are by invitation only; no unsolicited applications will be accepted.
